Statement Birds is an ongoing series of abstract self portraits with representational elements and layered automatic pattern making. The works allow Alex to disconnect from the noise and overstimulating day to day and dive deeper into the automatic drawing space as a way to deconstruct deeper thoughts, events and moments. The bird holds a deeper representational element for this artist, that is never disclosed in an attempt for the viewer to make their own connection to the individual pieces.
created from memories and colour palettes
Statement Landscapes explores the concepts of self, memory and connection through environment. Each work is created in response to a particular environment, built or natural. Often when we sit within a space we soak in more than the visual. We hear the sounds, smell the spaces, feel the environment around us. We take these memories with us. Since the development of photography as a tool so readily available to capture every moment without hesitation sometimes we lose our opporunity to find ourselves deeply emersed within the environment around us. To soak it all in. Through these works Alex attempts to recreate the emotional experience of country by reducing the imagery to a colour palette and producing works based on a memory of experience.
automatic paintings & drawings
Orbs is an ongoing series exploring the role of automation within our lives. Dealing with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome a form of dysautonomia, Alex is using her natural inclination to create amoebic Orb-like structures to produce a varied series of abstract self portraits. Automatic drawing is the process in which the artist suppresses conscious control over the making process, allowing the unconscious mind to have great sway. Through the use of colour, structures, layers & linework Alex utilises these works as a form of discovery about automation and how much experiences, preferences and bodily movements impact our day to day

creating happy spaces
Public art both static and immersive brings together my love of celebrating happiness and connection through audience. I seek to explore the role of creative places on individual and community and how transforming these spaces through art changes that way that which we as a community move through them. Art is a powerful tool to bring together people from all demographics to create, explore and collaborate. Wall paintings, street art, interactive pieces for commercial, private or community projects. Would you love me to paint a bit of happiness on your commercial building? Are you looking for an interactive community project for a festival or event? This is my jam. I love using art as a way to bring together community spaces. Connecting, creating and collaborating together. Want to work together? Let's chat. Email: email@example.com
