Alex Stalling is an Australian cultural practitioner currently based in Toowoomba, Queensland. Her work delves into representational self-portraits through automatic painting, motifs, and linework.
Alex's multifaceted career encompasses exhibitions, public art installations, committee roles, community projects, professional development facilitation, gallery management, graphic design, photography, product design and manufacturing, event coordination, and entrepreneurship.
She is the founder of Tinker (2018-present), co-founder of Made. Creative Space Toowoomba (2011-2013), and founder of Attic Art Space (2009-2010). Additionally, she has managed and facilitated numerous community art and cultural events across the Darling Downs. Born in Mount Isa, Queensland, Alex has a profound connection to natural environments, art led projects for community well-being, and fostering connections through the arts. She has experienced first hand the effects of creative connection on remote, regional and metropolitan communities. Her practice is driven by a passion for creating immersive experiences, whether through community projects, tactile object production, or items designed for play and creation.
